Come, Lord Jesus ...
Preparing my heart for Christmas
16th to 24th December
Novena in honour of the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ

Dear Apostles of Divine Mercy,

The Holy Father Francis in his encyclical on brotherhood and social friendship, wrote,
No one can experience the true beauty of life without relating to others, without having real faces to love
(Fratelli tutti, 87).
For us, members of the Apostolate of Divine Mercy, it is a special challenge to open ourselves to proclaiming and giving mercy to every person we meet.  Today, when the whole world is experiencing a special type of retreat, which demonstrates  the fragility of life, we see more and more that we cannot pretend or ignore the fact that we cannot live our life with dignity without the Giver - God who is a lover of man!

Therefore, during this time of Advent, I would like to invite you to pray the Novena to the Infant Jesus. It is truly an amazing piece of Good News for each one of us that God actually wanted to become so close to us, that He chose to come into our world in the human form, so that none of us would doubt the fact that God forgot about us! God never forgets us and never neglects us even if we forget about Him.  He is always there. He watches over us, He walks with us and He and loves us!

May our prayer during this Novena 16th to 24th December, in honour of the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ allow us to really prepare our lives for His coming! A coming that can turn the difficult and inexplicable into something completely new and so attractive, that from now on we will become even more zealous heralds of God’s Love and Mercy for whom our Apostolate in London exists. Let us join together in prayer during Advent so that we can celebrate together the joy of the birth of Christ the Lord!

Your Father John

Fr Lukasz Mazurek MIC

First Day - 16 DECEMBER

(You can add for the each day of the Novena your own intention to obtain a special grace)

Wisdom of the Most High,

ordering all things with strength and gentleness, come and teach us the way of truth.

O God, Creator and Redeemer of human nature, who willed that your Word should take flesh in an ever-virgin womb,
look with favour on our prayers, that your Only Begotten Son, having taken to himself our humanity,
may be pleased to grant us a share in his divinity.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Second  Day - 17 DECEMBER

Ruler of the House of Israel,

who gave the law to Moses on Sinai,
come and save us with outstretched arm.

Grant, we pray, almighty God, that we, who are weighed down from of old by slavery beneath the yoke of sin,
may be set free by the newness of the long-awaited Nativity of your Only Begotten Son.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Third  Day - 18 DECEMBER

Root of Jesse,

set up as a sign to the peoples, come to save us, and delay no more.

O God, who through the child-bearing of the holy Virgin graciously revealed the radiance of your glory to the world,
grant, we pray, that we may venerate with integrity of faith the mystery of so wondrous an Incarnation
and always celebrate it with due reverence

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

 Forth Day - 19 DECEMBER

our king and lawgiver, come and save us,
Lord our God

O God, eternal majesty, whose ineffable Word the immaculate Virgin received through the message of an Angel
and so became the dwelling-place of divinity, filled with the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant, we pray, that by her example we may in humility hold fast to your will.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Fifth Day - 20 DECEMBER

Key of David,

who open the gates of the eternal kingdom,
come to liberate from prison the captive who lives in darkness.

Hear in kindness, O Lord, the prayers of your people, that those who rejoice at the coming of your Only Begotten Son

in our flesh may, when at last he comes in glory, gain the reward of eternal life

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Sixth Day - 21 DECEMBER

The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and they will call him Emmanuel,
a name which means ‘God-is-with-us’

O God, who, seeing the human race fallen into death, willed to redeem it by the coming of your Only Begotten Son,
grant, we pray, that those who confess his Incarnation with humble fervour may merit his company as their Redeemer.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Seventh Day - 22 DECEMBER

King of the peoples and corner stone of the Church,

come and save man, whom you made from the dust of the earth.

Almighty ever-living God, as we see how the Nativity of your Son according to the flesh draws near,
we pray that to us, your unworthy servants, mercy may flow from your Word,
who chose to become flesh of the Virgin Mary and establish among us his dwelling, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Eight Day - 23 DECEMBER

Morning star, radiance of eternal light, sun of justice,
come and enlighten those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death.

Come quickly, we pray, Lord Jesus, and do not delay, that those who trust in your compassion
may find solace and relief in your coming.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Ninth Day - 24 DECEMBER

A hallowed day has dawned upon us.

Come, you nations, worship the Lord, for today a great light has shone down upon the earth.

O God, who wonderfully created the dignity of human nature and still more wonderfully restored it,
grant, we pray, that we may share in the divinity of Christ, who humbled himself to share in our humanity.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be
